Title
Search: Do I need to start both WSS Search and MOSS Search to get search to work in MOSS 2007?
Description
This is a similar question to 49.06 and is perhaps the more likely way this question will come up.
It is NOT necessary to start WSS Search in a MOSS environment in order for Search to work throughout the MOSS 2007 environment.
(There are no longer special "Team Sites" areas under the Portal that need their own set of search routine as was the case with SPS 2003)
You MAY start the WSS Search in a MOSS environment in addition to the MOSS search. In this case an index of the WSS (Microsoft) Help files will be created.
My thanks to a group of SharePoint MVPs who discussed this issue recently.
